Transformation Tuesday with Lauren Peters

July 14, 2014 By Laura 3 Comments

This week’s Transformation Tuesday is one that I am so thrilled to share with you.  I think of Lauren as immediate family in our boot camp family.  If she isn’t in class at 6 AM – I know she will be coming later at night.. or she’s on vacation. :)  Not only is she SO much fun and give 110% every single workout.. she motivates everyone around her to do the same!  On our Private Facebook Group – she’s one of the first to congratulate you on a recent fitness milestone, and also one the first one to offer encouragement if you are trying to replace a habit.Lauren Peters Before

Here’s Lauren’s story.. in her own words

Before joining Bay View Boot Camp, I had fallen off the fitness wagon for a while. Having always exercised (either at a gym or a different boot camp) falling off the wagon took it’s toll on me. I had gained weight, felt sluggish and just wasn’t happy with where I was headed. Prior to this setback, I had attended a boot camp led by former Bucs player and Superbowl Champ, Michael Pittman. I loved the diversity of exercises and the outdoor experience. I could definitely tell my body was changing and this whole boot camp experience was for me. He moved away and eventually I stopped going to classes because they just weren’t the same without “Pitt” and there seemed to be some power struggles with the new trainers. I still had my gym membership at Lifestyles, but they had been bought out by LA Fitness and they did away with the programs I liked (Les Mills Spinning, Bodypump, etc.) and I just wasn’t motivated to go. So I continued living my lifestyle minus the exercise…hence the “before” photo. :-(

A friend had told me about Laura’s Spartan Challenge and I completed the Jr. Spartan (while I was attending the “other” boot camp). I was familiar with Laura and when she advertised a Summer Transformation Challenge, so I thought I would give it a try. I knew I liked the boot camp experience and when I did the Jr. Spartan, and I loved Laura’s enthusiasm.

I had no idea the “full package” I was getting when signing up, but WOW! Measurements, meal plans, personalized emails, one on one help and the workouts…holy moley! I was quickly hooked and attended 5-6 classes a week (and still regularly attend 4 – 5x/week even a year later).

Boot camp has caused me to lose 25 pounds (and keep it off), learn a whole new way of eating, and I have never felt better. Laura’s program really made me aware of the whole clean eating experience and I’ve learned to eat and prepare things I never thought I would. I’ve ditched almost all processed foods! Never a huge fan of cooking, I no longer mind it and actually enjoy discovering my new “talents” in the kitchen. Vegetables I had never tried or knew what to do with are now a regular part of my daily eating and, even after the challenge, I continue to drink my green smoothie for breakfast almost every day and have incorporated some juicing in my diet as well.lauren peters after july 2014

People give me a hard time about my healthy eating but they just don’t realize what a difference it makes in how you feel. My body definitely knows the difference! Don’t get me wrong, I will never give up my love of beer, wine and cheese. I can just have all of those things now and not feel guilty about it!

I joined Bay View Boot Camp in July, 2013 and am so thankful for Laura and her crew. They are truly invested in seeing each of us get results and their love for fitness shows through. I love seeing my 6 am boot camp buddies every day. They are encouraging, motivating and just all around awesome! I’m seriously sad if I miss a class in the morning! My body fat is lower, my mood is better, I eat more vegetables than ever before, I feel great and the list goes on!

My advice to anyone that is hesitant or thinks they “can’t” do it…you are totally wrong! Laura will work with you and give you options and the motivation you need to succeed!

P.S. Since the original writing of this story (Laura’s been after me for MONTHS…I’m a bit of a procrastinator), I’ve fallen off the clean eating track a bit. However, I’ve continued my workouts and am SUPER stoked about the new Summer Sculpt challenge! Laura’s motivation and guidance, along with these challenges, keep me focused and excited about my healthy lifestyle!

Please join me in congratulating Lauren and thank her for sharing her story with you today!  If you are inspired to recharge and be our next ‘Transformation Tuesday’, book your FREE consultation with me (Laura) and we can get you started!!

Transformation Tuesday with Hannah King

June 30, 2014 By Laura Leave a Comment

Prepare for goosebumps as you read this young lady’s story about wanting more out of life.   She wanted more for herself.

I absolutely love this girl and have loved witnessing her become more empowered and confident week over week.

She started with one small step, but has always had a much bigger vision for what she wanted for herself and consistently works towards that vision every single day.

Each week she takes on something a little more outside of her comfort zone – whether it be signing up for a new 5k race, completing a Bay View Boot Camp Weekly Challenge, or trying a more advanced exercise at boot camp. Unparalleled follow-through to say the least.

I give to you the hilarious, beautiful, and dedicated Hannah King!

Before boot camp, I was very sedentary. I sat at my desk for 9 hours, five days a week, and then sat at home watching t.v the rest of the time. I didn’t ever work out and ate very poorly.

I was unhappy and wanting more for myself, but not willing to change or struggle to get there.

My friend’s favorite number is 13 and she elected to make 2013 the best year ever. I realized I could do the same with 2014. I came across one of Laura’s many emails at the right time and joined the 2014 Re-Invent Yourself 28-Day Transformation Challenge.  I realized the only way to succeed was to fully commit and I signed up for the full year. After that, I set goals for races and other improvements to my life.

What do I love most about my new lifestyle?

I now love shopping!!! I used to always hate it and never felt attractive. Now even though I have not yet reached my target weight, I go to the store and find dresses that make me feel beautiful and shoes that make me want to dance. I have really embraced a new style and am loving my body in ways I never had.Hannah 5k

What accomplishments am I proud of?

To date, I have run two 5k races, both without stopping to walk.  It has been so thrilling to set a goal and watch myself reach it.. and then continue to surprise myself.  With every new day, I come up with a new challenge I want to try.

What are my results on making this life change?

I really enjoy being an active person and having friends and family compliment me on all my changes. I have also felt more confident to go out and start meeting people. I hope this will lead to a new relationship soon.

What’s my motto for others in a similar situation?

My best advice: you have no idea what you are capable of until you try… then, once you set out to do something, do it. Believe in yourself and don’t give up. Never ever give up. Hannah King TT July

Please congratulate and recognize Hannah for her accomplishments and sharing her story.

She shared this with you to inspire YOU that anything is possible with continued effort and trusting the process.

Transformation Tuesday: Erin Beck

November 26, 2013 By Laura 1 Comment

Can’t wait to share with you Erin’s story.  She always has a ‘no excuses’ attitude – and she’ll even go for a run before/after boot camp so she can hit her goals.  She doesn’t find the time for exercise.. she makes the time.  So proud of her and all she has achieved this year!  Read her story and let it be momentum to get you inspired!!
“I caught the fitness bug years ago while trying to lose a few pounds for my wedding. I started with workout videos and walking, took some Jazzercise classes at the local rec center, and eventually joined a gym. I managed to lose a few pounds and maintain my weight, but working out started to feel like a chore.

I was also tired of feeling weak and tired, and wanted to look and feel strong instead of just “get skinny.” So I joined a different boot camp through my school and loved the camaraderie and the variety of exercises. It was only offered twice a week though, and I needed more. I also wasn’t feeling challenged anymore.
So when the art teacher at the school I teach at mentioned Bay View Boot Camp’s free boot camp/ school supply drive, I was definitely interested.
After that one free class, I signed up for a week, and I was hooked. It wasn’t easy, but I loved it! I decided to sign up because I knew I was pushing myself (and being pushed!) much harder than I ever would on my own at the gym or at-home workouts.
I felt accountable to the group, and to Laura, and because I was paying monthly, I made it a point to go as often as possible to get my money’s worth!!
Bay View Boot Camp brought a competitive side out of me I thought was only reserved for Scrabble! I found myself trying to sprint a little faster, squeeze out that last push-up, or jump rope a little quicker than the guy next to me. Being a clumsy, awkward kid (literally the last one chosen for sports teams in middle school), it felt good to finally be good at something!
This didn’t happen overnight, of course. But I was amazed at how fast I erin beck 5k racewas gaining strength and endurance. Laura’s fit tests every 5 weeks or so really proved that to me as well.
I was also surprised at how much my running improved as a result of my strength training. The speed work and agility exercises we do have improved my 5K time by 5 minutes over the last year! I placed second in my age group at a 5K in May- it was the best feeling.
The clean eating tips and meal plans from the two challenges I’ve participated in through Bay View Boot Camp have helped me to be in my best shape ever at 36. I’ve turned into one of those people praising the virtues of green smoothies! My boyfriend rolls his eyes at my protein powder, Ezekiel bread, flax seed, and fish oil, but I’ll convert him one day! :)
Last but certainly not least, I’ve met some really great people, and felt supported and encouraged on my fitness journey. Laura really cares for her clients, and it shows. I have lost a few pounds, gained muscle mass and confidence, as well as gaining a whole boot camp family. Worth every penny.
My advice for anyone who’s in need of a recharge, looking to get healthy and release some stress, is to take the leap and give it a try. You’ll be glad you did.”
SO awesome, Erin!  Can’t wait to see what new records you break next year! :)  Please leave a note for Erin below and help her keep up the momentum in her fitness journey.

Transformation Tuesday: Dominique

October 7, 2013 By Laura 1 Comment

Dominique credits boot camp for refueling her passion for exercising and transforming her body in ways that running and hot yoga fell short.  I love her motto of “nothing ventured, nothing gained” and how she continues to challenge herself week over week.  She will sometimes even come two times in one day.. which motivates me to continue to write more and more creative workouts!  She wrote her story to inspire you.  Here it is, in Dominique’s words.

My life “pre – boot camp” – I was always active and enjoyed running, yoga and other fitness activities. I stopped running because it began to feel like a chore and I wasn’t looking forward to my running routine. I lost my motivation. I practiced yoga at least 3 – 4 times a week; however, I wasn’t seeing results like I thought I should given the amount of times I was going and I was getting bored. I don’t believe my heart rate was reaching the level it should, especially since I was practicing “hot yoga” and the room was 104 degrees.

Why’d I sign up? I wasn’t finding any activities motivating. I wasn’t exactly unhappy with my body but I wasn’t being challenged. A friend of mine told me about Bay View Boot Camp and asked me to join him. The first day I went I loved it. I enjoyed the music and how we were constantly changing the exercises. Every time I went back it was different and unpredictable. That kept it challenging and interesting. After 50 minutes of a work out I was exhausted. Within two weeks I could see results.

dominique bay view boot camp transformation tuesday

What do I love most about my new lifestyle? I have a lot more energy. Having never been a morning person I am surprised at how I have changed and attend the 6:00 am classes. Often times I attend both the 6:00 am and the 6:00 pm classes (click here for full schedule).

I feel a great deal stronger and I love doing exercises I used to hate; such as full sit ups. I run faster now and I can do full pushups – 20 easily, whereas before I could barely do one. I also sleep a lot better and feel fully rested in the morning.

I look forward to boot camp and attend at least 5 days a week. It is a stress reliever and has increased my patience.

My advice for others who in a similar situation to myself? I tell all my friends about boot camp and tell them to try it for at least a week. It’s changed the way I feel about exercising and how I feel physically. Always challenge yourself and try something new. This has transformed my body and it’s a 50 minute class! Nothing ventured nothing gained.

We are SO proud of you Dominique.  If Dominique’s story has inspired you in some way, please leave her a note below and thank her for sharing.

Also – if you want to take Dominique’s advice with challenging yourself and trying something new, join us for a 5 for $5 week trial and see what ‘boot camp’ is all about!
