Transformation Tuesday with Barb & Frank Jiannetti!

August 5, 2014 By Laura 2 Comments

We love our Frank & Barb duo!  These two are an absolute joy to train, be around, and be a part of their incredible transformation.  They joined us mid-October of last year and our boot camp family has never been the same since.  They have inspired not only our members and are always high-fiving (while jumping in the air) everyone after a good set.. but have also inspired both myself and the other trainers.  In fact – they also wanted to say a few words.

From our trainer, Deb: “Frank & Barb, I am so happy you two gave boot camp a try and better yet I’m so happy that you both joined. Both of you have done an amazing job and your transformations have been awesome to watch and be a part of. I love the dedication and determination you bring to every workout; you are an inspiration to so many. The Bay View Boot Camp Family wouldn’t be the same without you two. I love you guys!”

From our trainer, Gail: “It has been so awesome watching Frank and Barb’s transformation. From Day 1 they gave it their all and were determined to improve.. and they have by leaps and bounds. They are such a joy to workout out with, train, and just be around.”

Here’s Frank & Barb’s story.. in their own words:Frank Barb Jiannetti October January 2013

By the summer of 2013, I couldn’t bend over to tie my shoelaces without losing my breath! Barb needed me to get down on the floor to buckle the straps of her shoes.

We were starting to look like the Michelin’s (Mr. and Mrs. Michelin Man…) We also were looking at our daughter’s wedding coming up in less than 6 months and we both wanted to look much better than we did.

I had been doing WeightWatchers for Men (online) and that worked a little, but there was no real penalty if you cheated and ate or drank too much. You just didn’t make your number that week and they gave you another, slightly higher one for the next week.

Barb would complain that she was trying to eat better but every time she stepped on our Homer Simpson scale, he would groan “…dooo-nuts…!” It’s funny for a while, then I disconnected the volume!

Oh, we would walk up 62nd Avenue and back, and, you know, working out on our own at the gym wasn’t doing it either.

We needed some motivation and discipline.

Deb (Zechinni) and I were playing softball when she convinced us to give Bay View Boot Camp a try. Hell, the first week was free and if you didn’t like it, you could just not sign up. So we showed up one evening in October. Man, that first Monday was hard. We came back on Wednesday, both stiff as if rigor mortis had set in, and again on Saturday morning. It was as hard as I had worked out since high school! I was afraid for Barb cuz those excersizes were killing her!

Somehow, eventually and by sticking with it, we both started to feel the change… our weight started to drop, we started to feel better, and sore but it was a good sore.Frank Barb July 2014 Collage Complete web version

Laura was very patient with us (clearly we were the oldest kids in camp), and the group was really cheerleading us to succeed. I think by Christmas they were telling us of how much of a difference they all saw in both of us, especially Barb. Laura, Deb, Molly, Mackenzie and Gail, too, give you plenty of encouragement to make you want to finish each exercise, like somehow you’re doing it for them!

A lot of our clothes look baggy on us now. Needless to say we looked, and felt, pretty good about ourselves for the wedding. Just because the wedding is over, we don’t plan to stop now, either.”

Congratulations Frank and Barb!!  You are always cheering everyone else during the workouts – so we are excited that today is all about the two of you.  You look incredible and your energy levels keep getting higher and higher (if that’s possible).  Keep up the amazing work!!

Please leave a note for Frank & Barb below and let them know how they’ve inspired you. :)

Transformation Tuesday with Lauren Peters

July 14, 2014 By Laura 3 Comments

This week’s Transformation Tuesday is one that I am so thrilled to share with you.  I think of Lauren as immediate family in our boot camp family.  If she isn’t in class at 6 AM – I know she will be coming later at night.. or she’s on vacation. :)  Not only is she SO much fun and give 110% every single workout.. she motivates everyone around her to do the same!  On our Private Facebook Group – she’s one of the first to congratulate you on a recent fitness milestone, and also one the first one to offer encouragement if you are trying to replace a habit.Lauren Peters Before

Here’s Lauren’s story.. in her own words

Before joining Bay View Boot Camp, I had fallen off the fitness wagon for a while. Having always exercised (either at a gym or a different boot camp) falling off the wagon took it’s toll on me. I had gained weight, felt sluggish and just wasn’t happy with where I was headed. Prior to this setback, I had attended a boot camp led by former Bucs player and Superbowl Champ, Michael Pittman. I loved the diversity of exercises and the outdoor experience. I could definitely tell my body was changing and this whole boot camp experience was for me. He moved away and eventually I stopped going to classes because they just weren’t the same without “Pitt” and there seemed to be some power struggles with the new trainers. I still had my gym membership at Lifestyles, but they had been bought out by LA Fitness and they did away with the programs I liked (Les Mills Spinning, Bodypump, etc.) and I just wasn’t motivated to go. So I continued living my lifestyle minus the exercise…hence the “before” photo. :-(

A friend had told me about Laura’s Spartan Challenge and I completed the Jr. Spartan (while I was attending the “other” boot camp). I was familiar with Laura and when she advertised a Summer Transformation Challenge, so I thought I would give it a try. I knew I liked the boot camp experience and when I did the Jr. Spartan, and I loved Laura’s enthusiasm.

I had no idea the “full package” I was getting when signing up, but WOW! Measurements, meal plans, personalized emails, one on one help and the workouts…holy moley! I was quickly hooked and attended 5-6 classes a week (and still regularly attend 4 – 5x/week even a year later).

Boot camp has caused me to lose 25 pounds (and keep it off), learn a whole new way of eating, and I have never felt better. Laura’s program really made me aware of the whole clean eating experience and I’ve learned to eat and prepare things I never thought I would. I’ve ditched almost all processed foods! Never a huge fan of cooking, I no longer mind it and actually enjoy discovering my new “talents” in the kitchen. Vegetables I had never tried or knew what to do with are now a regular part of my daily eating and, even after the challenge, I continue to drink my green smoothie for breakfast almost every day and have incorporated some juicing in my diet as well.lauren peters after july 2014

People give me a hard time about my healthy eating but they just don’t realize what a difference it makes in how you feel. My body definitely knows the difference! Don’t get me wrong, I will never give up my love of beer, wine and cheese. I can just have all of those things now and not feel guilty about it!

I joined Bay View Boot Camp in July, 2013 and am so thankful for Laura and her crew. They are truly invested in seeing each of us get results and their love for fitness shows through. I love seeing my 6 am boot camp buddies every day. They are encouraging, motivating and just all around awesome! I’m seriously sad if I miss a class in the morning! My body fat is lower, my mood is better, I eat more vegetables than ever before, I feel great and the list goes on!

My advice to anyone that is hesitant or thinks they “can’t” do it…you are totally wrong! Laura will work with you and give you options and the motivation you need to succeed!

P.S. Since the original writing of this story (Laura’s been after me for MONTHS…I’m a bit of a procrastinator), I’ve fallen off the clean eating track a bit. However, I’ve continued my workouts and am SUPER stoked about the new Summer Sculpt challenge! Laura’s motivation and guidance, along with these challenges, keep me focused and excited about my healthy lifestyle!

Please join me in congratulating Lauren and thank her for sharing her story with you today!  If you are inspired to recharge and be our next ‘Transformation Tuesday’, book your FREE consultation with me (Laura) and we can get you started!!

Transformation Tuesday with Hannah King

June 30, 2014 By Laura Leave a Comment

Prepare for goosebumps as you read this young lady’s story about wanting more out of life.   She wanted more for herself.

I absolutely love this girl and have loved witnessing her become more empowered and confident week over week.

She started with one small step, but has always had a much bigger vision for what she wanted for herself and consistently works towards that vision every single day.

Each week she takes on something a little more outside of her comfort zone – whether it be signing up for a new 5k race, completing a Bay View Boot Camp Weekly Challenge, or trying a more advanced exercise at boot camp. Unparalleled follow-through to say the least.

I give to you the hilarious, beautiful, and dedicated Hannah King!

Before boot camp, I was very sedentary. I sat at my desk for 9 hours, five days a week, and then sat at home watching t.v the rest of the time. I didn’t ever work out and ate very poorly.

I was unhappy and wanting more for myself, but not willing to change or struggle to get there.

My friend’s favorite number is 13 and she elected to make 2013 the best year ever. I realized I could do the same with 2014. I came across one of Laura’s many emails at the right time and joined the 2014 Re-Invent Yourself 28-Day Transformation Challenge.  I realized the only way to succeed was to fully commit and I signed up for the full year. After that, I set goals for races and other improvements to my life.

What do I love most about my new lifestyle?

I now love shopping!!! I used to always hate it and never felt attractive. Now even though I have not yet reached my target weight, I go to the store and find dresses that make me feel beautiful and shoes that make me want to dance. I have really embraced a new style and am loving my body in ways I never had.Hannah 5k

What accomplishments am I proud of?

To date, I have run two 5k races, both without stopping to walk.  It has been so thrilling to set a goal and watch myself reach it.. and then continue to surprise myself.  With every new day, I come up with a new challenge I want to try.

What are my results on making this life change?

I really enjoy being an active person and having friends and family compliment me on all my changes. I have also felt more confident to go out and start meeting people. I hope this will lead to a new relationship soon.

What’s my motto for others in a similar situation?

My best advice: you have no idea what you are capable of until you try… then, once you set out to do something, do it. Believe in yourself and don’t give up. Never ever give up. Hannah King TT July

Please congratulate and recognize Hannah for her accomplishments and sharing her story.

She shared this with you to inspire YOU that anything is possible with continued effort and trusting the process.

Transformation Tuesday: Debi Quilla

June 9, 2014 By Laura 1 Comment

Words cannot express how sincerely honored I am to announce our next Transformation Tuesday story.  I have trained with this amazing woman for the past three years both in boot camp and 1×1 Debi Transformationpersonal training and I cannot be more proud of her.

I have absolutely loved working with her.. it’s actually not work at all. :)

I get the chills reading her story because I know every drop of sweat that has gone into her accomplishments.

It is the sum of every walk past the kitchen stocked with temptations, but not touching them.

It is the sum of every “no thank you” when offered dessert or a glass of wine.

It is the consistent small wins, day in and day out, that has produced such awesome results.

I read this quote yesterday, “A farmer has patience and trusts the process.  He just has the faith and keeps understanding that through his daily efforts, the harvest will come.  And then one day, almost out of nowhere, it does.” ~ Robin Sharma

Debi trusted the process and has now experienced and continues to experience stunning success.

I give to you the incredible Debi Quilla, in her own voice and words. ~ Laura

My Transformation Tuesday story is a long time in the making – nearly three years.

Debi Transformation TuesdayI met Laura on day one of Bay View Boot Camp. My journey has been long with lots of ups and downs, but Laura and Bay View Boot Camp are always there to help me celebrate my successes and work through my challenges.

Laura has been asking me share my transformation story for over a year. But every time I thought I was ready, I’d have a million excuses to “be bad” and my Transformation Tuesday would turn into Fat Ass Friday. Still, Laura never gave up on me! She has an amazing gift for being tough enough to demand 110% in a workout, and the next minute being the nicest person you will ever meet – all rolled up into an amazing coach and friend.

Bay View Boot Camp has been a constant in my life for the past three years. I love the workouts and all the coaches – Laura, Deb, Gail and Molly are brilliant. The support and encouragement from other boot campers is worth more than I can say. They are amazing people! I genuinely look forward to class – not only do I get a great workout, but I have also made wonderful new friends.

It has taken nearly three years, but I have lost more than 50 pounds and I feel great. I’m stronger, thinner, faster, thinner, and taking on more challenging workouts than 20 years ago. Did I mention thinner? Never thought I’d see size 8 again, but here I am.

Debi September 2011If I could lose weight by just working out, I’d be a supermodel. My challenge is, and always will be, food. I’m not sure why, but I don’t seem to be one of those people who can develop a craving to “eat clean.” I’m better with food now, but every day is still a struggle. I will always have my weaknesses: Diet Coke, Pinot Grigio, Red Mesa, and Gratzi to name a few. But somehow, I have finally found a balance – a way to have the stuff I like and enjoy a social life with my husband and friends, without overindulging. Now, when I eat out I make better choices. I’ve found if I don’t make a big deal about what I’m NOT eating or drinking, no one else does either. And the Mesa salad with salmon isn’t a sacrifice – it’s really good!

This journey hasn’t been easy, and it’s not over. Although I’ve finally hit my goal weight, now I have a new goal weight. Because I eat and drink what I want sometimes, I allow myself three or four pounds of cushion (pun intended). That’s why my workouts at Bay View Boot Camp are so important.

If I feel stressed out by work, family, life, I let Laura know and we talk it out – well before I get to far down the path of self-sabotage. Then I get back to my plan. It doesn’t matter if I mess up – just that I do better the next day. As the one hour every day that I take strictly for myself, boot camp and personal training makes me happy.

So, if you’re on the fence about trying Bay View Boot Camp, all I can say is call Laura today. Everyone’s journey is different, but this stuff works the old fashioned way. Hard work, clean eating and a lot of fun.

Leaving a Legacy

March 5, 2014 By Laura Leave a Comment

I’m still on a high from the fitness conference I attended last weekend and wanted to share a little of what I learned with you.
One of my favorite presenters, Martin Rooney said:

“You are in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of your life.  What do you want to be remembered by?  What legacy do you want to leave behind?
He went on to say..
“Your life won’t be measured by what you got from the world, but rather what you gave back to it.”
This week has been especially memorable for me and it started with our Transformation Tuesday story, Janie.  I’ve already witnessed her story completing change and inspire the lives of those around her.
P.S – If you haven’t read it yet, do it NOW!
She shared her journey of personal growth (or in her case shrinking!) and it has already made a lasting impact and changed the course of direction of others.

People say there are two great days in a person’s life: the day you were born and the day you discover why.
2 Great Days
What’s your why?
*Challenge*

I challenge you to carve out about 10 minutes today and think about how you will leave your legacy behind.  Start with  answering these questions on a sheet of paper.

1. Make a list of all of your best personal qualities.  Don’t stop writing until you’ve filled up the whole piece of paper.

2. Which of those qualities can you put into action to give value back to those around you?

3. Choose ONE thing that you will do so that you’ll leave a lasting impact.  Put a deadline next to it.

4. Share it!  Put it out there.  Share on Facebook and tag Bay View Boot Camp and share it with at least one friend in person.  It makes it real!!
Cheers to leaving a legacy,
Laura
